Nixon, at 18, appeared in two Broadway shows simultaneously, both directed by Mike Nichols. Eight times a week she played a teenage drifter in Hollywood in Acts One and Three of David Rabe’s “Hurlyburly,” alongside William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver; in between, she appeared as the British daughter of Jeremy Irons and Christine Baranski in Act Two of Tom Stoppard’s “Real Thing.
