Someone wrote this as a response to a screen grab I posted today of a Dad being loving and supporting after his son came out in a iphone text message to him.
I completely disagree with everything that this person says.  I am going to have to assume they are straight as I can’t imagine a gay person who has gone through the experience of coming out would feel this way.
I don’t want to write a huge post about coming out.  But that being said, coming out is never particularly easy.  Some people actually never come out.   People have thousands and thousands of reasons why they choose to come out in the way they do.
I think coming out is particularly one time in a person’s life where they can be truly selfish and do whatever works for them.   Often times it’s difficult enough for a young person to simply say “I’m gay.”   I think if you say it in person, on the phone, in an email, in a banner flying behind a plane or yes, even a text message, as long as you’re saying it - you should NEVER be judged in the delivery of that information.
